If we live in a universe that's in a constant or accelerating rate of entropy...what role do we serve?

Time is entropy. Entropy is time.

What role do we serve? Humans themselves are in a constant state of entropy (just as everything else). In a sense we are entropy-fighters, that's what all life is. A fight to maintain the single constant that we know best...ourselves. Without fighting entropy we'd be dead. However, we've discovered patterns and relationships with other entities that keep us from being destroyed, keeping our state of being alive constant.

However, we are also in a fight with entropy in our daily life. We set goals, new years resolutions... And though we fight to achieve these things, often we fall victim to the natural predator that is entropy, and fail to achieve those things. We make up excuses and procrastinate, pretending like life is lived in any other moment except for now.

But we all know deep down the battle we're fighting. While our own survival and preservation is the ultimate goal. We know that there's a long road ahead of humanity, and that in the long battle against entropy...That there's work to be done. We recognize that there's entropy embedded in our own species, war being a perfect example, and we strive for world peace. We recognize that it takes the relationships with the entities/world around us to ultimately win this battle with entropy, so we strive for green energy and renewable resources.

To scale things back even further...Can we ever "win" the battle with entropy? There's none who know. Our sun will explode, our planet may be hit with a devastating asteroid, the universe will continue to expand...

Maybe winning isn't an option. But we know that we must battle as long as we can and as hard as we can. Maybe we should stop to enjoy how things are now. Today. Because now, things are perfect. The universe is perfect. Everything has worked out with every relationship between every entity, from molecules to planets to be the way they are right now.

Sometimes we have to stop and smell the flowers.
