Words

It's crazy how much language controls our reality.

If there's one word that's destructive, it's the word "try" (it's almost as destructive as the word "but").

Perhaps the word destructive isn't the right word either. Perhaps "limiting" is more appropriate. Yes, it is.

Yoda sums it up pretty well:

"Do or Do Not. There is no Try"

Maybe you've heard this quote before -- regardless, I encourage you to listen to it from a certain context. From the context of language defining our reality. At first it's a difficult concept to grasp, because it seems so subtle. It takes practice, having conversations about it, and time before you realize language's true power.

Say this out loud to yourself:

"I'm going to try and wake up early tomorrow"

What feeling are you left with after saying that?

Now say this out loud:

"I'm waking up early tomorrow"

Now again, become aware of what feelings you're left with. They'll be subtle, but if you really tune in -- you'll begin to realize the power of language and how it affects your life.

By simply saying something like this in your head (or ESPECIALLY out loud), you literally change the course of your future. Something "clicks" in your head about how you think about the given thing you talked about. About how you relate to it. And your actions will change.
