The internet and technology is an escape.
It's an escape from the present moment.
It takes us some place else.
With our eyes glued to our phones, laptops, and televisions, we are at a time when we spend more time some place else, than we do in the present moment.
Globally, everyone is checked out. I am no less guilty of it than everyone else.
I think the root cause of this phenomenon is complex...but could be simplified.
I suppose part of it has to do with how uncomfortable we are with doing nothing.
We can't find the motivation nor the energy to change our circumstances, so we take the path of least resistance. We lose ourselves in our phones.
We've become forever distracted.
