Consider for a moment...
That there are a near-infinite amount of realities that exist. Not only do they exist, but us people have access to them. And later I'll talk about how we actually CREATE our own.
To start this conversation, I'd like to quote good old Morpheus from the Matrix:
"If real is what you can feel, smell, taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain " - Laurence Fishburne in "The Matrix"
Taking this perspective, the reality that every one of us live in can be interpreted as the prominent common day-to-day "reality" that we all share. The everyday reality our 5 senses are most sensitive to. From this point on, I'll refer to this reality as Life. So just think of Life as life as you know it, what the average person considers reality.
Now to borrow another quote, this time from Picasso:
"Everything you can imagine is real." - Picasso
Now take some time to think about this...
... If Life or "our reality" is simply what we see/smell/taste/touch/hear....what are dreams? When we conjure up something in our imagination ,what is that? When we see a picture in our head, isn't that partially stimulating the "visual" area in our minds? Let me make a comparison for a minute...
Imagine two television sets.
One is the newest 65 inch HD Television 1080p, the picture is crystal clear, the colors are vibrant, and the detail is stunning.
The other one could be found in the "free" area on craigslist. It's small, only several inches across, the colors are faded, the picture is fuzzy, and there are dead pixels everywhere.
Suppose both TVs were displaying the same show (as they often are in popular stores). Think about what the true difference between them is? They both have the same source of video, the difference is how much they stimulate your senses. The expensive TV stimulates your senses the most, and the cheap TV barely stimulates your senses at all, BUT if you focus hard enough, you can make out what's playing.
Now consider Life as the expensive TV. It's the reality that, since you've been born, has stimulated your senses the most.
And your imagination...your thoughts...your dreams, are the cheap TV. They're often broken, we forget them, and some of them are gone as soon as we think of them. However, a thought is still stimulating our senses, even if it's the tiniest fraction in comparison to Life, the expensive TV.
But consider for a moment that that's the only difference. That our imagination is the exact SAME type of thing as Life, just a weaker version.
What if our dreams and thoughts are actually portals into the infitude of realities. While we can only experience them, at the slightest level, we are still experiencing them....just as we are Life.
Think about it. Seriously.
EDIT: That was just me ranting, but I just stumbled upon this link which kinda talks about all the stuff I was: www.globalone.tv/profiles/blogs/the-gods-that-we-are
